hopefully leaving the sun-dried-tomatoes behind

Off to home today.

off to home?

I wonder about myself sometimes.

The beach has been wonderful.

of course.

I actually got rid of my flip flop tan.

and my shorts tan.

and my sunglasses tan.

and every other kind of imaginable tan that is not wanted.

I will say that at this point in the week,

Josiah isn't the only one with a sun-dried-tomato-face.

Saturday, July 30

little bro's eyes.

beautiful.

I tell him this all the time.

and he tells me to quit it.

yup.

don't you love his sun-dried face?

Now it sounds like I'm talking about tomatoes.

Friday, July 29

a beautiful sister.

you have met some of my sisters.

at least two of the four.

Katya and Sara Maria.

tonight you get to meet Grace.

my roommate.

friend.

and now, model.

Grace, blog readers (pretty great people)

blog readers, Grace.

isn't she beautiful.

love her eyes.

hers and little bros.

you'll see his eyes tomorrow.

now onto other eyes. kind of.

we went to a local aquarium and left with mustaches and some great fisheyes.
like the photos.
not the real things.

more on that later.

Thursday, July 28

a most wonderful evening.

the sky was amazing.
I never get this lucky.
Like this morning, I was going to get up
real early to get photos of the sunrise.
and it rains.
of course.

we went to an old army fort.
and it was closed.
more of my luck.
So we went and walked on the beach.
Because we are staying on an island and you are never
more than a two minute walk from the beach.

little sister. Katya.
She told me to take her "photography"
so I did.
'cause we're cool like that.
yup.

parents. I would comment on how cute this is.
Except that they are my parents and that would be awkward.
Because they may read this.
Yup. Hey parents.

more coming later!

who ever knew red flag days could be so great?

{via}

If you read my post from yesterday, you would have understood that we had a
simply wicked beach day. But wicked wasn't bad.

It was intense.

And wild.

And crazy.

And exhausting.

But was amazing and worth it.

There was no red flag yesterday. Maybe there should have been. But there wasn't.

There was one today.

Which, as the flag reads, means no swimming.

Not cool.

I mean, what are you supposed to do at a beach?

Swim, eat, and tan.

No swimming because of the red flag.

No tanning because the sun thinks the clouds make a better place to hang out.

But we can eat. Right? Yeah. until the power goes out.

Which did happen.

But, as far as food goes, we'll just let my food baby speak for itself.

Mom, my sister {grace}, and I decided that we might as well explore what Emerald Isle has
to offer.

So we discovered a beauty parlor thing.

And got pedicures.

So now my beach trip is complete.

Poppy red nails and all.

the end.

Monday, July 25

I could totally be a beach bum. A title that has almost nothing to do with the post.

The Internet is painfully slow.

So we'll see how much posting will happen.

The beach is simply stunning.

It always is.

I had plans to sleep until 9:00 every morning.

but. little sisters have a way of. well. shall we say making your priorities not
so much priorities?

Katya {the youngest} decided that it was direly necessary for me to get up
and go on a walk.

and so I did.

and of course took the camera along.

It would be greatly offended if it was left in my room.

okay. so maybe it's just a bunch of plastic and metal.

but whatevs'.

the humidity is at about 95%.

my frizz tells that story.

that, and how hazy this photo is.

Broken shells?

treasures.

This was the calmest the water has been all day.

This afternoon has been just plain intense.

The wind was flowing {does wind flow?} at about 40 or so mph.

Which caused the waves to grow into monstrous tidal waves.

okay. maybe not.

But saying that I was battling tidal waves sounds better than plain old 8 - 12 ft. waves.

not much to say here. execpt...

sunspots.

epic clouds.

too early to be awake.

Sunday, July 24

ready or not, here I come!

I'm leaving for the beach in a few hours and I'm pretty sure time is moving so slowly
that I'm growing a beard.

Ok. So maybe my analogy is a bit off.

But you get the point.

My next post will be from Emerald Isle!

Saturday, July 23

because every good beach trip starts off with a candy store.

literal barrels of candy. I thought I died and heaven bore an amazing resemblance to Candy Land.

Peachy Penguins?

Why not?

20 ft. long shelves of various flavors of jelly beans.

pure bliss.

and they had tray upon tray of real chocolate.

This is addie. And this photograph is epic.

I. Need. This.

Hey Zoe. You're cute and you know it.

And this. [dramatic pause. for effect, you know]. is Savannah.

She is beautiful. And kind. And funny. And is a great actress.

no. that's not a tattoo.

They are Office quotes.

The lighting was really soft which created some beautiful pictures.

Some, however, had to have a slower shutter speed which opted for some blurry photos.

I could have fixed it easily and have no idea why I didn't.

anyhow...

i. love. my. rainbows.

I don't think Savannah realized I was taking her picture - which makes this one of my favorites.

It's almost like a painting. but not. yup.

This is my favorite photograph from here.

I'm not sure why, as it's not an outstanding photograph.

I guess I just like the mystery. Well, that wasn't cliche...haha.

So yeah. I don't think I would like it half so much if it were sharp.

Out of curiosity, do you prefer it when I add commentary to my posts filled with photographs; or do you simply find them distracting? Please comment and don't worry about hurting my feelings. I really just want you to be honest. It's not like I'm asking you if you think my blog design is hideous. But if you want to comment on that, I'll be glad to hear about that too. Feedback is great. Thanks!

Love,

Adelyn
