Happiness in April

maybe it’s the mug of peppermint tea cupped in my hands.
maybe it’s the unexpected letter of encouragement from a sweet friend that was discovered in my mailbox this afternoon.
maybe it’s the especially tender words God has been whispering to me
and the perfect way he’s been working in me.
Maybe it’s the beautiful, southern April.
maybe it’s because I finally feel at home in Raleigh.
maybe it’s the bright skirts, spring dresses, and 4 inch heels strewn about my room in look book of sorts.
maybe it's the burts bees tent sale that made all my burts bees fantasies come true.
maybe it's the workout that squeezed it's way into my day (the bum says 'thanks!)
maybe the cricket chirping outside my window
keeping me company
maybe it’s all of that.
Either way, I’m happy.

like a nerd.

shirt: vintage, c/o sister, jeans: Old Navy, cardigan: thrifted (gap), sandals: Target, bracelet: gift from a friend, belt: thrifted, bag: thrifted (h&m)

Well gosh darn, it's Monday already.
This weekend was filled with peppermint tea, an intensely crowded trip to the museum (more on this later), burts bees (more on this later too), vintage graphic tee-shirts, bright red lips, coffee ice cream, attempts at being a gym bunny, and absolutely no studying.
I'm smack in the middle of exam season and ohhh it's not pretty. But I refused to let myself study for more than an hour each day - we'll see if this comes back to haunt me. 2 exams down. 4 to go. The magical land of Starbucks will be receiving frequent visits this next week. (oh how I love you, beautiful green straw!)
In other news, I'm officially a working woman! Well, I will be come June. I couldn't be more thrilled!

Happy Monday, lovelies!

May 2012

Hey lovelies, I've got a couple spots open on the sidebar. Go check out the newly updated sponsor and partner pages for the deets!

Thursday, April 19

The cows say hi too. (a sort of guest post)

The cows around here decided they felt like a guest post. And so they got one. Because no one likes an angry cow. (angry cow eventually = no coffee ice cream. That would be disastrous.) And I'm going to be busy tweaking the design around here today so an outfit just isn't going to happen. So ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I am happy to introduce you to my friends, the cows.

The cows: moooooo. (they're very original)

(this is where you madly applaud and wipe tears from your eyes)

Apparently cows are beasts of few words.

Happy Thursday, lovelies!

(I honestly just wrote 'Happy Sunday, lovelies!' Where did that come from?!)

waldo wanna be.

dress: F21, sandals: Target, bracelet: gift from a friend, necklace: (giveaway) stella and dot
hello, lovelies! My name is Waldo and I am a stripe-a-holic.
I kid, I kid. I'm really not Waldo, but you could have fooled me with the multiple times I was confused with the guy. The joke stopped being so funny after, oh, the seventy-eight-billionth time I person screamed "I found you, Waldo" in my face. And then they prance away, clearly pleased with their cleverness at comparing my newfavoritedressthatmayormaynothavecomeoffsincesunday with Waldo's signature striped top. I must admit that I am head over heels in love with his famous red and white stripe combo - such the perfect clash of sassy and classy. Who knew Waldo had such great taste in clothing?!
p.s. did'ya notice the lovely neck swag (neck swag?)  I'm sporting? It's quickly become a staple in my closet - I'm obsessed, you guys! Stella and Dot is brilliant.
edit: yes, Stella and Dot is pricey. And no, I did not buy the necklace. (it's from a giveaway that I won)

what formal dress?

dress: thrifted (or a hand-me-down. I've had it forever and have no idea where it came from), skirt: thifted, cardigan: thrifted, shoes: kmart (no shame), earrings: thrifted

If it were socially acceptable, I would wear a formal dress 349 days of the year. (The other cluster of days would be dedicated to black jeans and a chambray top.) I just love the funky colors, crazy prints, and embarrassing stories that come to mind whenever I throw one on - this happens more than it probably should. But sadly, it ceased to be socially acceptable to flaunt your Cinderella dress once you reached the unfortunate age of 12. So now I just hide my formal dress under a skirt and cardigan and nobody knows better. Except for the bag lady at the grocery store. She seemed to know something was up - those intuitive grocers! Though I'm not sure what gave it away - the polka dot hem creeping out from under my skirt or the twirling and dancing that took place on the cake decorating isle.

Happy Monday, lovelies!
