the joy of fairly pointless holidays.

dress: thrifted, shoes: thrifted, socks: stole from dad, earrings: Pretty Things by Meg

{yes. I'm one of those crazy-about-thrifting-people. It really is quite wonderful}

let's admit it. Labor day is a fairly useless holiday. But we love it.
Who wouldn't? Three day weekend and all.
I had a simply wonderful weekend.
Which is why I was just a bit absent over here at the corner.

I was having too much fun to post about it.
Till now, that is.

Remember this post?

I was up late doing homework...and complaining about it. I really wasn't the happiest camper that has ever pitched a tent. And we also talked about how crazy it is that people
actually read this blog. Oh, and of course, bubble butts.

But I failed to mention that I was going out of town for a bit.
Because you see, I did.

I took and itsy-bitsy road trip. One that made me unspeakably happy and sad at the same time.

I spent my weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia - where I recently moved from.
AKA one of the most beautiful place to ever be.
Ok. I may be just a bit biased. But really. It is quite stunning.

I went canoeing with a bunch of my friend and their families on a river in the Shenandoah.
It was simply breathtaking. And I'm unspeakably sore.

The rest of the weekend was spent eating an alarming amount of ice cream,
watching Dr. Who {holla at me Dr. Who addicts!},
teaching a whole slew of middle school girls how to waltz,
and blasting the Phantom of the Opera Broadway soundtrack.

Pure bliss, people.

of course reality had to come crashing back and nastily reminded me of the
work I have yet to complete before Friday.

But we won't dwell on that.

Because I would much rather think on the amazing creepiness of Dr. Who than write an
essay on Paradise Lost...

...rather remember the laughter and squished toes that came from attempting to
dance with 4 1/2 ft. tall girls than do the pages of math homework that are begging to be completed...

...rather pretend my voice is half as amazing as Sarah Brightman and
belt out 'The Point of No Return' than translate paragraphs of headache-inspiring Latin paragraphs.

So I'll forget my homework for now, I'd much rather admire, laugh, and sing.
